Lets start with the most obvious issue: nobody likes terrorists or radicalists within any religious or non religious organization. We've gotten to the point now that after several attacks on civilians that it's somehow ok to speak of closing down mosques or closing down countries for all muslims. Since the end of last year this has escalated to the point that it no longer seem to raise much if any objections. We are at war they say... well are we? And who are we at war with exacly? The islamic state and other teorrist organizations see the western world as their enemy. That I won't argue, and when we have a situation where high forgein populations in different europeean countries see themself as looked down upon compared to the natives it's easy to see it as an correalation. Things are quite more complex then this however. There are arguments from mainly two sides, those who easily connect all islam as one and see all negative things happening as something that proves their point. And those who seem to fail to see any problems what so ever with a high immigrations from radicalised areas.
Let us start with talking about the most obvious point: multiculturalism. People seem to use this word for everything nowadays, when in reality it's just one of many ways to look at intergation into a society. It really have nothing to do with different cultures but in reality more about values. And that is also where the big cultural difference are between the west and middleeast and even other areas of the world. In the manifests for the Europeean Union it states that a free market economy is one of the things a country most follow to be accepted as a member. No form of socialism, syndicalism or anything that isn't pure capitalism. This lays a foundation of that whatever the market wants, is also what should be happening. Now apply this to politics. Give the people what they want, tell they people what they want to hear and voila, we got populism. Fancy that. Now imagine comming here from countries where you're generally suspicious of the goverment and where your main relations are within the family the society is more connected though the religion and meeting at the local mosque. Why would this change if the people where more or less forced to move to the west? For the first generation it wouldn't, and for the second generation it does gradually. Instead of shutting down mosques and have lectures and magazines about "the evil muslims" their communities need to work against the radical forces. There are cultural differences between people, but we're all still people and if we can't stand together against radicalism but instead they divide us. Then they've already won.
